Dr. Christopher Harris
Dr. Harris has lived in Wilmington, North Carolina since the summer of 2001. He is originally from Roxboro, North Carolina where he attended Person High School, graduating in 2001. After his graduation from high school he moved to Wilmington, North Carolina where he attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he majored in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Medical sciences. After graduating from UNC-W in December of 2005, Dr. Harris left for the Midwest where he began his chiropractic studies at the highly esteemed Palmer College of Chiropractic located in Davenport, Iowa in July of 2006. He graduated from Palmer with Cum Laude honors in October 2009, and moved back to Wilmington shortly thereafter. While at Palmer, Dr. Harris devoted many hours working with patients and athletes in the Sports Rehabilitation department as well as working events with the college’s ports Council group, as working with the athletic population is where his passion lies.
These are Dr. Harris’s comments on his chiropractic graduate work:
“Having the chance and the opportunity to pursue my chiropractic education at Palmer College of Chiropractic was amazing! Palmer is known as the “Fountainhead of Chiropractic” because the first actual chiropractic adjustment was administered 3 blocks down the road from the college. Palmer is the very first college of chiropractic and retains some of the top chiropractic faculty, many with 30+ years of chiropractic teaching experience. With that being said, the level and wealth of knowledge was great! The education at Palmer was a very rigorous and challenging task, but one that was sure to keep you focused on the long-term goal, which was to learn to be the best Doctor of Chiropractic you can be! While at Palmer, I also had the once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of a clinic abroad trip to Vietnam. On this trip, a group of about 40 chiropractic faculty and students traveled to Vietnam for 18 days to give free chiropractic care to severely underdeveloped and needy parts of the country. This was probably one of the most humbling experiences of my life, and our group having the chance to help out over 3,000 patients over the course of those 18 days is something I will never forget!” Dr. Harris is still continuing his post-graduate education. Since graduating from Palmer, he has become one of the only 900 or so individuals who have completed the Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (C.C.E.P.) course. He believes that having a more extensive knowledge in working with the extremities allows for the ability to bring a more global and comprehensive approach to healthcare and rehabilitation. Dr. Harris is also actively pursuing his Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physician (DACBSP) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certifications. “The limits of what you can learn and bring to the plate as a health care provider are endless, and it is my goal to bring the widest range of knowledge that I possibly can both into the office and on the field to help each and every patient and atlete to the very best of my abilities!” He is an active member of the NC State Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Association, and the Council on Extremity Adjusting
Now a little about his personal life: Dr. Harris is an avid beach volleyball player, and is a huge fan of UNC-Chapel Hill athletics. He also has a big love for mixed martial arts (MMA). Along with his mom and dad who both still live in Roxboro, North Carolina, he also has one older brother who resides in Burgaw, North Carolina. He also enjoys fishing and boating, and plans to take up golf in the near future.
