Dr. Michael Graybar
Dr. Michael Graybar has officially been a North Carolina resident for sixteen years now after traveling coast to coast. He is originally from East Brunswick, New Jersey where he was raised. Dr. Graybar attended St. Joseph’s High School in Metuchen, New Jersey before his studies led him to The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He graduated in May, 1991 with a B.S. in Biology. While attending the University of Scranton, Dr. Graybar led the Scranton Royals to a #12 National Ranking in Men’s Soccer, Division III his senior year. He lettered three of the four years while at Scranton, with All-Conference and All-Regional Honors his junior and senior year. Traveling from coast to coast, Dr. Graybar began his chiropractic studies at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (L.A.C.C.), graduating with Dean’s List Honors in December, 1994. His Chiropractic practice began in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1995 and he maintains an active membership and standing with the North Carolina Chiropractic State Association.
These are Dr. Graybar’s comments on his chiropractic graduate work: “My chiropractic education in Los Angeles was fantastic! It was an amazing experience spending four years of my life in L.A. but I am glad to be back on the East Coast. I always get asked about my education and the truth is the chiropractic curriculum is almost a mirror image to a Medical University during the first two years of schooling. The major difference occurs in the third year when the focus shifts to “chiropractic holistic philosophy and spinal manipulation” instead of pharmaceuticals-drug therapy. This was the favorite part of my entire education. I got to understand the cause and effect of “health and wellness” rather than to numbing or masking the symptoms with medications. L.A.C.C. prepared me to be the “complete doctor” and this is the concept I try to bring into the clinical setting everyday. I explain this concept to every patient: “My goal and the focus of care will remain to improve your personal health and maximize your well-being and if for some reason your condition can not be managed within the realms of our facility, I will refer you to the appropriate specialist immediately.” I love the team-approach concept. This is the future of healthcare and I would love to see all physicians embrace this philosophy. This is the foundation of our clinics! Graybar Chiropractic & Rehab Centers presently have four wonderful physicians sharing this team concept with every patient while blending their individual style and expertise to address each patients needs.
And now onto his current personal life: Dr. Graybar and his wife, Tracey, a nurse, have been happily married for 15 years and have 5 wonderful children, Tyler (age 14), Sarah (age 13), Ryan (age 11), Madison (age 10) and Jack (age 6). Tracey is a California native, born and raised in Orange County. They met on a blind-date during his chiropractic studies and, within 16 months from that first meeting, were married and had moved their lives to North Carolina. Their family maintains an extremely active lifestyle with an emphasis on time spent with sports and the outdoors. The girls enjoy dance and cheerleading while the boys maintain an active soccer and basketball lifestyle. Sorry Carolina fans, this is a DUKE basketball family. Additionally, Dr. Graybar is the head-coach for Wallace-Rose Hill Mens’ Varsity Soccer and the Charity Middle School soccer programs. He is also the director of a club travel soccer team, Wallace United. He enjoys coaching
and any given weekend, you will see him on the soccer field coaching dozens of players. He also maintains a three handicap on the golf links and enjoys golfing with his sons when soccer is not in season.
